The Parent Committee

At Quentin Blake staff and parents cooperate closely to create an environment where pupils can prosper not only academically but also socially.

The Parent Committee (GEV) represents the parents of the school and is made up of parent representatives from each class together with teacher and educator representatives and the school administration. Two parent representatives are voted for at the first class parentsʼ evening of each school year, one for mother-tongue English and one for Mothertongue German.

Meetings are held every six weeks to share information and discuss school issues which provides a structured forum for communication between parents and staff. In addition the chairperson meets regularly with the school administration and passes relevant information on to other parent representatives. Jour Fixe meetings are also held with theboard of “Friends of Quentin Blake” and the administration.

Members of the Parent Committee also take part in various committees of the school such as the subject conferences, the General Conference, which is made up of all staff members, and the School Conference, which is made up of elected members constituting an important decision-making body. Representatives also attend District Parent Committee meetings and report back to other parent representatives.
