Quentin Blake Odyssey of the Mind teams in Slovakia

2014 was a hugely successful year for the Quentin Blake Odyssey of the Mind teams.
First they captured 2nd place in both the Driver’s License and the Not-So-Haunted House problems and 3rd place in the Seeing is Believing problem.
Two teams went on the Eurofest in the lovely mountain resort Liptosky Mikulas in Slovakia.  There both teams won an amazing second place against teams from Poland, Russia, Moldova, India, Slovakia, Belarus and Germany.
The mixed team problem is what really makes the Eurofest special.  Teams from different countries with different languages and cultures work together for three days to solve a problem together.  Our team working together with Kazakhstan and Belarus managed to capture the coveted first place trophy for their work together.
In moving speeches from Germany, Russia & Moldova with representatives from the US and all 17 nations represented there, an appeal was made to the world leaders to solve their differences with the cooperation and creativity shown repeatedly in Odyssey of the Mind.
A huge thank you to Friends of Quentin Blake Förder Verein for making the participation in both events possible.

Odyssey of the Mind German Finals 2014

The Odyssey of the Mind kids represented the Quentin Blake Europe School brilliantly with hilarious performances that captured the judges’ hearts and earned them 2nd place for the Problem 1, Div 2, 2nd place for Problem 2, Div. 2 and 3rd place for Problem 5, Div 1.
That means all the teams that participated came home with medals.  Well done!

Dear parents reps,
Please forward this message from Mrs Klotz to your classes, teachers and educators.
I'll have to change our meeting date for Odyssey of the Mind, since the Schulkonferenz now conflicts with it.  I'll postpone it for one week.  Please pass this info on to all parents.  The meeting will now be one week later on Friday October 25th, in class 111 at 2 pm.  All interested parents, students, educators and teachers are most welcome to come.  Anyone for sure wanting to be on the team should come or let me know in advance that you are interested.

Odyssey of the Mind

It looks like QB will be having at least four Odyssey teams this year--more are possible.  For this we need adult volunteers to be coaches.  If you are interested, contact Heidi Klotz and keep your first week end in March open.
